For the first time, the 6th edition of the Marrakech Biennale arts festival is free of charge. This is in a bid to promote arts and improve accessibility.
The festival, currently underway has attracted local and international artists to showcase their different talents.
This year’s event focuses on making use of the city’s public spaces and one of the major attractions is the work of Yto Barada who has paid homage to Abderrahman El Majdoub, the16th century poet.
Barada has portrayed the poems of the Berber poet on flags and banners.

The festival has also attracted a number of visitors, impressed by the fresh take on contemporary art.
The Biennal is a trilingual festival focusing on contemporary art, literature and film.
It seeks to promote the status of the artist and contemporary culture and to revamp the regional creative scene enabling discussions with and between artists.
The biennial festival will run till the May 8 to promote the status of African artists and culture.
